Online Video Poker vs. Offline Video Poker

Online Video Poker vs. Offline Video Poker

A few weeks ago I had the luxury of teaching an old friend of mine how to play online Video Poker. He is an avid Video Poker player and I was certain that he would be able to do just as fantastic playing online version of the game. I turned out to be wrong, because at the end of the session he was down low. He did win several hands, big payouts too, but he wasn’t profitable at the time. We sat down and analyzed the situation and I will tell you the results in this article.

Apparently, there are certain different aspects of online Video Poker when compared to brick and mortar casino version of this game. First of all, most players playing online Blackjack or Poker feel the game is faster-paced when compared to offline versions of those games. That is not the case with video poker, because when playing with real Video Poker machines everything can be controlled quickly. With online Video Poker, a slight transition process to the controls – in this case computer mouse – is definitely needed.

The second aspect that is different between the two is ambience. When you play at live casinos, you have lots of ambience noises surrounding you, making it harder to focus but easier to speed up. With online Video Poker, you set the ambience yourself. This is actually an advantage for those of you who cannot focus in crowded environment, although a rather disadvantage for people too used to casino ambience such as my friend.
