Video Poker Tips: Playing Speed

A lot of people don’t notice this, but speed is actually an important factor in Video Poker as well. Don’t get me wrong, by speed I mean being able to play the game fast enough while still making cool and calculated decisions at all times. There are several reasons why upping your playing tempo can help you play better Video Poker, and those reasons are what we are going to discuss in this article.

When you play Video Poker, you will quickly notice certain ups and downs throughout the game. There will be times when all you have are losses, followed by the times when you actually win with several fabulous hands and bank your profits. These ups and downs are very natural indeed, especially because Video Poker is based on randomness; Video Poker uses random number generator to determine which cards to deal.

When you play at slower tempo, these ups and downs can influence your emotion. Why? Because your body and mind will have more time to absorb all the frustrations and hysteria, making you emotional indeed. Being emotional is definitely not good when you are playing Video Poker. Chasing your losses after a streak of bad beats is just as bad as betting blindly after a huge win.

With faster playing speed, you can actually ignore these emotions and stay objective while making cool and calculated decisions. Playing at high speed may require practice, but the effort you put on learning how to play at faster tempo will be well worth it.

Video Poker Trivial Tips

There are so many things to discuss about Video Poker, but in this part we are going to take the discussion down a notch and get through some of the basic tips – mostly trivial ones – that can help you play Video Poker in a better fashion. Some of these tips we are going to discuss may not be applicable to online Video Poker, but the concepts behind them can be easily understood. Let’s get started, shall we?

I have a habit of carrying a bucket whenever I play Video Poker at my favorite casino. Why? Because it helps me manage my coins – a.k.a. my bankroll – better. If you are playing online Video Poker, you can see the amount of your bankroll clearly displayed on the screen. With real Video Poker machines, that is not the case. That is why having a container to help you measure the amount of coins you have can be very beneficial.

Whenever you play Video Poker, always play with the right mindset and plans. Set the right machine to play, determine your target profit and playing strategy, and simply have tons of fun enjoying the game. The best way to play Video Poker is to play with a solid plan; you wouldn’t have to deal with emotional rollercoaster and the game will be so much more fun to play.

Last but not least, believe me when I say that the only way you can win at Video Poker is by mastering all the basic skills.

Video Poker Tips: Cards to Keep

Let’s start this part with a quick reminder. A lot of Video Poker players – probably including you – don’t really pay attention to the number of decks used by a Video Poker machine. In general, Video Poker machines only use one deck. However, there are several newer machines that use two or even three decks in play. There will be warnings or signs on the machine so pay close attention and make sure you only play on machines with one deck.

Now, the key to winning in Video Poker is to know which cards to keep. Unless you know exactly what winning hands you are pursuing, it would be hard to determine the right cards to keep. That is why I always advise people playing Video Poker to at least play a form of poker every once in a while, just to keep that hand recognition skill on edge when needed. You would have to be able to analyze hands quickly and determine what hand you will be pursuing.

For those of you keeping pairs, don’t bother keeping kicker at all. You should always focus on the best hand possible and set aside other unneeded cards to give room for the draw. With this simple tactics, you can easily get better hands; remember that better hands are equal to better payouts. Get used to assessing the situation quickly and visualizing the cards you will be expecting as well.

With these simple tips, plus the reminder on the beginning of this article, you will have no problem at all picking up the pace and staying profitable playing Video Poker.
