Video Poker tournament may not be something you are quite familiar with, but several casinos – especially Atlantic City casinos – have been playing Video Poker tournaments for years now. If you are really that good at playing Video Poker, Video Poker tournaments should really be your next step.

Just like other casino game tournaments, Video Poker tournaments offer large jackpot to win and thousands of opponents to compete with. The rules are very similar to Slots and Blackjack tournaments actually. Upon buying in, you will be given a certain amount of bankroll to start with. Video Poker tournaments usually have three to seven rounds – sometimes more if the tournament is large enough – with predetermined time limits for each round.

The objective of a Video Poker tournament is to find the player that can win the most coins (profits) playing Video Poker within the predetermined period. This objective applies to each round; certain number of players with the most winnings can progress to the next round, and so on. It is obvious that you need to be able to win enough coins to make sure you are ahead of the competitions.

The best way to play Video Poker tournaments is to simply focus on yourself and worry not about other opponents. With the right level of focus and strategy, you can easily stay profitable and score several large wins, progress through the tournament, and of course win the grand prize.

Video Poker Tips: Playing Speed http://www.video-and-poker.com/video-poker-tips-playing-speed/ http://www.video-and-poker.com/video-poker-tips-playing-speed/#comments Fri, 30 Apr 2010 16:55:20 +0000 admin http://www.video-and-poker.com/?p=15 A lot of people don’t notice this, but speed is actually an important factor in Video Poker as well. Don’t get me wrong, by speed I mean being able to play the game fast enough while still making cool and calculated decisions at all times. There are several reasons why upping your playing tempo can help you play better Video Poker, and those reasons are what we are going to discuss in this article.

When you play Video Poker, you will quickly notice certain ups and downs throughout the game. There will be times when all you have are losses, followed by the times when you actually win with several fabulous hands and bank your profits. These ups and downs are very natural indeed, especially because Video Poker is based on randomness; Video Poker uses random number generator to determine which cards to deal.

When you play at slower tempo, these ups and downs can influence your emotion. Why? Because your body and mind will have more time to absorb all the frustrations and hysteria, making you emotional indeed. Being emotional is definitely not good when you are playing Video Poker. Chasing your losses after a streak of bad beats is just as bad as betting blindly after a huge win.

With faster playing speed, you can actually ignore these emotions and stay objective while making cool and calculated decisions. Playing at high speed may require practice, but the effort you put on learning how to play at faster tempo will be well worth it.

Video Poker Trivial Tips http://www.video-and-poker.com/video-poker-trivial-tips/ http://www.video-and-poker.com/video-poker-trivial-tips/#comments Fri, 26 Mar 2010 16:54:26 +0000 admin http://www.video-and-poker.com/?p=13 There are so many things to discuss about Video Poker, but in this part we are going to take the discussion down a notch and get through some of the basic tips – mostly trivial ones – that can help you play Video Poker in a better fashion. Some of these tips we are going to discuss may not be applicable to online Video Poker, but the concepts behind them can be easily understood. Let’s get started, shall we?

I have a habit of carrying a bucket whenever I play Video Poker at my favorite casino. Why? Because it helps me manage my coins – a.k.a. my bankroll – better. If you are playing online Video Poker, you can see the amount of your bankroll clearly displayed on the screen. With real Video Poker machines, that is not the case. That is why having a container to help you measure the amount of coins you have can be very beneficial.

Whenever you play Video Poker, always play with the right mindset and plans. Set the right machine to play, determine your target profit and playing strategy, and simply have tons of fun enjoying the game. The best way to play Video Poker is to play with a solid plan; you wouldn’t have to deal with emotional rollercoaster and the game will be so much more fun to play.

Last but not least, believe me when I say that the only way you can win at Video Poker is by mastering all the basic skills.

Online Video Poker vs. Offline Video Poker http://www.video-and-poker.com/online-video-poker-vs-offline-video-poker/ http://www.video-and-poker.com/online-video-poker-vs-offline-video-poker/#comments Thu, 25 Feb 2010 16:54:21 +0000 admin http://www.video-and-poker.com/?p=11 A few weeks ago I had the luxury of teaching an old friend of mine how to play online Video Poker. He is an avid Video Poker player and I was certain that he would be able to do just as fantastic playing online version of the game. I turned out to be wrong, because at the end of the session he was down low. He did win several hands, big payouts too, but he wasn’t profitable at the time. We sat down and analyzed the situation and I will tell you the results in this article.

Apparently, there are certain different aspects of online Video Poker when compared to brick and mortar casino version of this game. First of all, most players playing online Blackjack or Poker feel the game is faster-paced when compared to offline versions of those games. That is not the case with video poker, because when playing with real Video Poker machines everything can be controlled quickly. With online Video Poker, a slight transition process to the controls – in this case computer mouse – is definitely needed.

The second aspect that is different between the two is ambience. When you play at live casinos, you have lots of ambience noises surrounding you, making it harder to focus but easier to speed up. With online Video Poker, you set the ambience yourself. This is actually an advantage for those of you who cannot focus in crowded environment, although a rather disadvantage for people too used to casino ambience such as my friend.

Video Poker Tips: Cards to Keep http://www.video-and-poker.com/video-poker-tips-cards-to-keep/ http://www.video-and-poker.com/video-poker-tips-cards-to-keep/#comments Sat, 30 Jan 2010 16:53:41 +0000 admin http://www.video-and-poker.com/?p=9 Let’s start this part with a quick reminder. A lot of Video Poker players – probably including you – don’t really pay attention to the number of decks used by a Video Poker machine. In general, Video Poker machines only use one deck. However, there are several newer machines that use two or even three decks in play. There will be warnings or signs on the machine so pay close attention and make sure you only play on machines with one deck.

Now, the key to winning in Video Poker is to know which cards to keep. Unless you know exactly what winning hands you are pursuing, it would be hard to determine the right cards to keep. That is why I always advise people playing Video Poker to at least play a form of poker every once in a while, just to keep that hand recognition skill on edge when needed. You would have to be able to analyze hands quickly and determine what hand you will be pursuing.

For those of you keeping pairs, don’t bother keeping kicker at all. You should always focus on the best hand possible and set aside other unneeded cards to give room for the draw. With this simple tactics, you can easily get better hands; remember that better hands are equal to better payouts. Get used to assessing the situation quickly and visualizing the cards you will be expecting as well.

With these simple tips, plus the reminder on the beginning of this article, you will have no problem at all picking up the pace and staying profitable playing Video Poker.

Video Poker Bankroll Tips http://www.video-and-poker.com/video-poker-bankroll-tips/ http://www.video-and-poker.com/video-poker-bankroll-tips/#comments Sun, 13 Dec 2009 16:52:50 +0000 admin http://www.video-and-poker.com/?p=7 When playing Video Poker, being able to manage your bankroll properly is very important. There will be ups and downs along your play and the only way you can survive those and remain profitable is by having enough bankroll to start with as well as the right management strategy. Most professional Video Poker players, or at least the profitable ones, know this for a fact.

You can start with determining your bankroll and make sure you choose the right machine to play. If you have a starting bankroll of $500, you can play Jacks or Better machines with $.25 denomination. Don’t go with $1 machines because you will not be able to last as long as you expected to. If you have limited budget, the same machine and denomination can still be safely played with around $300 to $400 starting bankroll. If you have larger bankroll, $1,000 at least, you can opt for $1 Video Poker machines safely.

Once you have the right bankroll to start with, you must know how to manage them properly. It would be best to set aside winnings to get the idea of just how profitable you are playing Video Poker. This way, you can choose to quit while you are ahead. Plus, you shouldn’t feel the need to chase losses at all because it will only cloud your judgments and put your bankroll in jeopardy. Instead, quit when you run out of coins to play and simply count your winnings to see if you are profitable this session.
